Ooratha Caaquwa Goofatho (GOFRNT)
Gofa – (gof) Ethiopia As of the 1994 census there were more than a million speakers of the Gofa language in Ethiopia. This country is surrounded by Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea. Addis Ababa is its capital. The majority of the Gofa people live in the Omo region in the area of Arba Minch and the mountains west to Lake Abaya. As part of the language development the government is developing joint educational materials for several groups that include the Gofa people. Their writing system consists of both the Latin Script and Ethiopic script. The original language code, gmo, will be retired after the publication of the Ethnologue, 16th edition. The new code for the Gofa language will be gof.
