DAY 7 OF 20

The Freedom to Choose

There's this word Paul keeps using: slave. A slave doesn't have a choice. A slave does what they're told, no questions asked. Before Jesus, that's what sin did to us. It owned us. We didn't have the option to say no.

But Jesus changed that. When He died, something in you died too. The version of you that was controlled by destructive patterns, shame, insecurity, all of it. That old self got crucified with Jesus.

And when Jesus rose, you rose too. New. Free. With the power to actually choose.

This is huge when it comes to your body. You're not stuck. You're not doomed to repeat the same cycles. The shame you carry from how your body's been treated or how you've treated it doesn't own you anymore. The pressure to use your body in ways that dishonor God or yourself has lost its grip.

You've been set free.

Does that mean you'll never struggle? No. Temptation is still real. Sin still tries to get back in. But the difference is this: you're not powerless anymore. You can fight. You can say no. You can choose a different path.

Freedom isn't the absence of struggle. It's the ability to choose in the middle of it.

So when that temptation comes to use your body in a way you know isn't right, when the shame starts creeping back in, when the old patterns try to reassert themselves, remember: you're not a slave anymore. You're free. And freedom means you get to decide.

Question: What's one area where you feel stuck when it comes to your body?

Practice: When you're tempted today, pause for five seconds before you act. In that pause, remember: you have a choice.
