DAY 11 OF 20

The Race You're In

You're in a race whether you realize it or not. Not against other people. Not for a trophy. But a race toward becoming who God made you to be.

Paul uses this metaphor because athletes get it. If you want to win, you train. You show up every day. You make choices that align with the goal. You don't wing it and hope for the best.

The same is true for your faith. And part of that faith is how you treat your body.

This isn't about looking good or being the strongest person in the gym. It's about stewardship. God gave you a body, and what you do with it matters. If you're running a race, you need to take care of the thing that's carrying you.

That means sleep. It means food that actually fuels you, not just whatever's convenient. It means moving your body in ways that keep it strong. It means not ignoring the signals when something's wrong.

Here's the thing: you can't run the race God's called you to if you're running on empty. You can't love people well when you're exhausted. You can't serve with joy when your body's breaking down because you haven't taken care of it.

Discipline isn't punishment. It's preparation. It's setting yourself up to keep going when things get hard. And trust me, things will get hard.

So run the race. Not aimlessly. Not halfway. Run like you're going somewhere. Because you are.

Question: What's one area where you need to be intentional about taking care of your body?

Practice: Today, make one choice that sets you up to run well tomorrow. Get to bed on time. Eat something that actually nourishes you. Move your body.
