Lordship and Obedience — Surrendering All
Following Jesus means more than believing He exists — it means letting Him lead.
If Jesus is Lord, that covers everything: your identity, your relationships, your future, your habits. That sounds confronting. But surrender isn’t loss — it’s freedom because Jesus leads better than we do.
John 14:21 says the person who keeps Jesus’ commands is the one who truly loves Him. Obedience isn’t how we earn God’s love. It’s how we respond to it.
Jesus said it simply: deny yourself, take up your cross, follow Me. Not once. Daily. That’s what real discipleship looks like.
John 14:21
"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."
James 1:22–25
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it — not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it — they will be blessed in what they do.
Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."
