This Is WhySample

This passage from James is a great reminder of the way we’re called to do two big things to share the gospel with others: tell them with our words and accompany those words with the way we live. We all probably know some people who do this incredibly well. Their faith spills out in both the way they talk about and share it with others and in the way they treat others with their actions. Those people are almost irresistible because of the way their faith comes out in all they do.
But on the flip side, we also probably know some people who do the opposite. They talk a big game when it comes to their faith. They know all the right answers, all the Scriptures, and all the prayers. But when it comes to actually putting those words into action? Well, that’s where they lack. And because of that, their witness isn’t nearly as irresistible to those around them. So, if we want to have an irresistible faith—the kind of faith that draws others in—then we have to incorporate both word and deed into our lives. That’s how we share our faith, both by the way we talk about it and the way we live it.
Take time this week to talk to your small group about how you can all encourage each other to share your faith in word and in deed.

About this Plan

We’ve all had those experiences that are so real and impactful to us that we want other people to know about them, too. More than just telling the people in our lives about it, we want them to feel it, to get it, to care about it, and even experience it the way we do. And for followers of Jesus, our faith is a message of hope we simply can’t keep to ourselves. In this devotional, we’re going to look at what it means to share the gospel of Jesus with the world around us.
