This Is WhySample

Have you ever seen a body of water overflow? Maybe a creek in your backyard after a major storm, or the neighborhood pool when it’s overfilled, or a waterfall rushing to the river below, or even just a glass of water that’s overpoured. The point? Whatever it is that you’ve seen overflow, it was more than the container meant to hold it could keep in. The water was meant to stay within its boundaries, but there was just too much to be contained.
Here, Paul was making a similar comparison to the hope we have in our hearts. When God fills us with things like peace, joy, and trust in Him, He doesn’t hold back. He doesn’t give sparingly; rather, He gives abundantly. He gives us so much that it literally overflows out of us. It has to! The hope is more than our hearts alone can contain. So, what do we do with that overflow? Do we keep it for ourselves? No, we share it with others! We let the abundance of our overflow spill out in our words, our deeds, and the way we live. It’s how we share that hope with others!
This week, find just one way to let your hope overflow into someone else’s life.

About this Plan

We’ve all had those experiences that are so real and impactful to us that we want other people to know about them, too. More than just telling the people in our lives about it, we want them to feel it, to get it, to care about it, and even experience it the way we do. And for followers of Jesus, our faith is a message of hope we simply can’t keep to ourselves. In this devotional, we’re going to look at what it means to share the gospel of Jesus with the world around us.
