DAY 17 OF 20

In today’s day and age, the word “peace” feels harder and harder to grasp. It’s become more of a concept or an abstract idea than a state of being, both in ourselves and in the way we interact with others. What used to feel simpler to accomplish now feels tested by social media, politics, and the stress of everyday life. Having peace in our hearts is not only challenging; at times, it feels impossible. And without peace in our hearts, peace in our relationships with the body of Christ is nearly impossible in the same way.

Our challenge as believers is to tune out the noise of the world and all the ways it threatens to steal our sense of peace. Instead, as Paul said, we can let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. We can fix our eyes on His Word, His truth, and His promises. When pressed and stressed, we can turn our attention to Him and find peace. And when we do, that peace will overflow into the way we interact with others. It will change the way people see us as people of peace, and that might just change the way they feel about Jesus altogether.

This week, work to memorize this verse. Use it as a prayer for peace in your own heart and in the interactions you have with others.

About this Plan

This Is Why

We’ve all had those experiences that are so real and impactful to us that we want other people to know about them, too. More than just telling the people in our lives about it, we want them to feel it, to get it, to care about it, and even experience it the way we do. And for followers of Jesus, our faith is a message of hope we simply can’t keep to ourselves. In this devotional, we’re going to look at what it means to share the gospel of Jesus with the world around us.
