DAY 14 OF 20

One of the most difficult parts of the human experience? Waiting! There’s a reason patience is a part of the fruit of the Spirit, after all. God knew that having it in our own strength wouldn’t be easy. For some of us, even waiting in line, waiting for a website to load, or waiting for our phone to turn back on, feels like a struggle. But for most of us, waiting on the bigger, more unknown things in life is the challenge. Waiting to see if we got the job. Waiting to find our spouse or have our first child. Waiting for the call from the doctor with the answer to our health ailments. Waiting for restoration, forgiveness, or resolution. Waiting like that isn’t just difficult; at times, it can even feel hopeless.

That’s when we have to cling to the truth like this from this psalm. We’re waiting on God to move in specific areas of our lives, yes, and that waiting can be difficult. But when we put our hope in Him and His Word, the waiting becomes more bearable. Then, while we’re waiting on an outcome or answer, we’re waiting with the strength of God’s promises to sustain us. We know who and what we can hope in, even when we don’t know what’s ahead—and that’s who God is and what He has promised.

Who in your life needs hope in their own waiting? This week, find an opportunity to share this verse with them.

About this Plan

This Is Why

We’ve all had those experiences that are so real and impactful to us that we want other people to know about them, too. More than just telling the people in our lives about it, we want them to feel it, to get it, to care about it, and even experience it the way we do. And for followers of Jesus, our faith is a message of hope we simply can’t keep to ourselves. In this devotional, we’re going to look at what it means to share the gospel of Jesus with the world around us.
