DAY 17 OF 20

Turn It Off

Be still. Two words that feel impossible in a world that never stops.

Your phone buzzes. Someone's texting. Someone's posting. Someone's arguing in the comments. And you feel like you have to keep up, stay plugged in, stay available.

But God says: Be still. Stop. Put it down. Turn it off.

You can't know God when you're constantly distracted. You can't hear His voice when your brain is drowning in notifications. You can't experience His peace when you're scrolling through everyone else's chaos.

Stillness isn't about doing nothing. It's about creating space for God. And sometimes, that means choosing to disconnect from everything else so you can reconnect with Him.

This is countercultural. The world wants you busy, distracted, always consuming. But God wants you still. Rested. Focused on Him.

When was the last time you were genuinely still? Not just physically, but mentally? Not half-present while scrolling, but fully present with God?

Sabbath wasn't a suggestion. God modeled it in creation. He rested. Not because He was tired, but because rest is part of the rhythm He designed for us.

You need it. Your soul needs it. And the world will keep spinning without you for a few hours.

So turn it off. Be still. Know that He is God. And let that be enough.

Question: What's one distraction you need to eliminate to find stillness?

Practice: Set aside 30 minutes this week. No phone. No music. No distractions. Sit in silence and just be with God.
