Rest Is Not Weakness
Our culture treats rest like it's something you earn. Like you have to hustle hard enough, achieve enough, prove enough before you're allowed to stop.
That's a lie.
Rest isn't a reward for productivity. It's a necessity for being human. And it's a gift from God.
David wrote this Psalm in the middle of chaos. He had enemies. He had stress. He had every reason to stay up all night worrying about what might happen. But instead, he says, "I will lie down and sleep in peace."
How? Because he trusted God to handle what he couldn't.
That's what rest is. It's an act of trust. When you go to sleep, you're saying, "God, I'm handing this off to You. I can't control it while I'm unconscious, so You're going to have to take care of it."
And guess what? He does.
You don't have to stay up all night stressing about tomorrow. You don't have to grind yourself into the ground to prove your worth. God's got you. He's not asking you to be awake 24/7. He's asking you to trust Him.
Rest is not weakness. It's faith. It's believing that God is big enough to hold things together while you sleep.
So tonight, when you lie down, don't feel guilty. Don't scroll your phone until 2 a.m. Don't let your brain spiral into every worst-case scenario. Just rest. God's got the night shift.
Question: What keeps you from resting well?
Practice: Tonight, put your phone in another room. Say a short prayer thanking God that He's in control while you sleep. Then actually sleep.
