Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains (Philemon 10 NKJV).
How well do you use your influence?
Your influence, whether large or small, is powerful. Take Paul’s letter to Philemon as an example. Even while imprisoned, he chooses love over authority in asking Philemon to welcome Onesimus as a brother, rather than as a runaway servant.
Influence isn’t about position; it’s about how you use your voice. Paul wisely appeals to his brother in the faith by reminding him of the apostle’s chains and old age. Paul shows that true influence flows from wisely using humility and compassion.
How might you use your influence, whether at home, work, or church, to bring others closer to God? Sometimes, a gentle nudge is more powerful than a strong command.
Employment Point: Skillfully make appeals to others for the Lord.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
