Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy (Psalm 126:5 NKJV).
What breaks your heart, causing you to weep?
Have you experienced a brokenness that brings you to God? Israel’s exile brought them to a place of repentance, illustrated by Jeremiah’s words: “with continual weeping they shall come, and seek the LORD their God” (Jeremiah 50:4 NKJV). Likewise, Hebrews 5:7 speaks of Jesus’ own tears in the garden. Genuine sorrow over sin reflects an open heart that seeks God.
When you bring your brokenness to God, He welcomes you with compassion, knowing that true repentance draws you nearer to Him. Let your sorrow over sin move you toward God’s forgiveness and strength.
Employment Point: In brokenness, bring your tears and concerns to God’s throne.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
