Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Now Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken. And he was there when Jerusalem was taken (Jeremiah 38:28 NKJV).
Does the Lord’s nature remain the same even when we suffer?
In times of suffering, remember that God remains constant. Jeremiah faced imprisonment as his warnings to Judah unfolded. Likewise, the writer of Hebrews reminds us of Jesus, whose unchanging nature is a firm anchor which holds through a storm (Hebrews 1:11–12). He is "the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV), a rock of stability when life feels uncertain.
In hard times, focus on God’s unchanging attributes—His goodness, love, and grace—that sustain you. Just as Jeremiah trusted God’s promises despite his circumstances, you too can find hope in a faithful God who remains unchanged through all of life’s trials.
Employment Point: Focus upon the Lord’s unchanging nature to remain faithful to Him in the midst of suffering.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
