Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 310 OF 365

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it (Matthew 7:13–14 NKJV).

Are you choosing the narrow path for a broad future?

Baruch, Jeremiah’s scribe, remained faithful even as most of the people in Judah rejected God. Though he sought no earthly gain, God promised to protect his life. The Almighty says to him, “And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh, says the LORD. But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go” (Jeremiah 45:5 NKJV).

Likewise, the writer of Hebrews warns that those who disobeyed could not enter God’s rest (see Hebrews 3:17-19), showing the value of staying true to Him. Walking the narrow path of faith requires sacrifice, but it brings rewards in the life to come.

Let your choices reflect trust in God’s promises, keeping your eyes on the broad future He offers to the faithful who are willing to suffer now.

Employment Point: Walk the narrow path by faith for the Lord’s blessing of life.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
