Hebrews Part 3: Sleepy ChristianitySample

Is Your Faith Conditional?
Most relationships today are transactional—built on contracts that end the moment one side doesn’t deliver. We sign contracts with employers, utility companies, banks, and more. They’re based on performance: if one party fails, the deal is off. But God doesn’t deal in contracts. He deals in covenants.
In Scripture, a covenant is a sacred, binding commitment far deeper than any contract. The Bible uses the word covenant hundreds of times. When a husband and wife marry, they enter into a covenant—something weightier than a legal agreement. They invite God into their vows, pledging sacrificial love no matter what. This kind of relationship mirrors the one God offers us through Jesus Christ.
The Bible even uses marriage as a metaphor: the Church is the bride, and Jesus is the groom. God’s covenants are seen throughout Scripture—between individuals, families, nations, and God Himself. Covenants brought peace, protection, blessing, and inheritance. But above all, they pointed to the ultimate covenant God makes with His people—on His terms, by His grace, through the blood of His Son.
This covenant with God isn’t based on our performance but His promise. It’s a life-and-death relationship secured by grace, sealed with mercy, and sustained by faithfulness. Though we deserved wrath, God offers covenant—and with it, salvation.
God’s covenant isn’t just a better deal—it’s a completely different kind of relationship—built on grace, sealed with blood, and upheld by a faithful King who never breaks His word. In a world full of broken contracts and temporary commitments, God’s covenant stands unshakable.
Are you living like you’re in a contract with God or a covenant?
