Hebrews Part 3: Sleepy ChristianitySample

Do You Follow God’s Way or Your Own?
Covenants aren’t casual—they’re costly. In Scripture, a covenant isn’t a contract you can tweak; it’s a blood-sealed commitment initiated by God. Unlike human agreements, God’s covenants are built on His authority, holiness, and grace. They form the foundation of how He relates to a sinful world and carry serious consequences when broken.
"Cutting a covenant" involved sacrificing an animal, symbolizing the penalty of breaking the bond. God’s covenants are not earned or negotiated—they’re gracious gifts set by His terms. From Noah to Jesus, five major covenants show God’s plan to redeem and restore: each with a covenant head, promises, conditions, signs, and a new family identity.
Each covenant reveals a different part of God's redemptive story, but they all point forward to Jesus. He is the final mediator, the fulfillment of every promise, and the One who takes on every curse for our failure. The New Covenant, written on hearts and empowered by the Holy Spirit, offers direct access to God, not just rules to follow. It transforms us from the inside out.
This is the difference between religion and a relationship. Religion says, “Try harder, do more, earn your way.” Covenant says, “Jesus did it all—believe, repent, and receive.” It’s not about climbing up to God; it’s about God coming down to us. The gospel is covenantal—it’s a God-initiated rescue mission that cost Him everything to save us. He calls us not just to obey, but to belong.
Are you living on your own terms—or have you surrendered to the terms of God’s covenant?
