Hebrews Part 3: Sleepy ChristianitySample

Jesus: Routine or Relationship?
People are creatures of habit. We become accustomed to our religious routines, but occasionally God wants to change how we operate with Him.
Hebrews pulls back the curtain—literally—on why the old system of worship wasn’t enough. The Tabernacle was meaningful, but it wasn’t final. It had limited access, surface-level cleansing, and partial forgiveness. It was never meant to be the finish line—just a signpost pointing to Jesus, the only way to truly draw near to God.
In this section of Scripture, the author of Hebrews outlines three reasons the Tabernacle was ultimately insufficient—and why we need Jesus to truly worship God.
First, access was restricted. Only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies—and only once a year. Everyone else stayed back. But when Jesus died, He tore the curtain and opened the way for all (Matthew 27:51).
Second, cleansing was shallow. The Tabernacle dealt with outer barriers, but not inner sin. Only Jesus can cleanse the heart, mind, and soul.
Third, forgiveness was limited. The old system only covered unintentional sins. Willful sin left people scared and unsure. But Jesus brings full forgiveness and peace of conscience.
Jesus didn’t come to adjust the old way—He came to replace it entirely. He opened the curtain, cleansed us from the inside out, and offered full, forever forgiveness. If you're still stuck in routine, fear, or guilt, you're standing outside the veil. The way is open. Step in.
Are you worshiping from a distance or walking into God’s presence?
