Rescued: God's Grace for the Hardest Parts of Your Story

DAY 5 OF 7

God Redeems What Was Lost

“Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. Now the Lord loved the child.”
—2 Samuel 12:24 AMP

Bathsheba’s story doesn’t end with betrayal, loss, or grief. After the death of her first child, she later gave birth to another son, Solomon. And Scripture makes a powerful declaration: “the Lord loved the child.”

This is the God we serve: the One who brings beauty out of ashes, who redeems what was broken, who writes love into the chapters that once only held sorrow.

Sister, I don’t know what you’ve lost—your innocence, your peace, your voice, your hope—but I do know this: loss is not the end of your story. God is able to redeem, restore, and bring forth life where there has been only pain.

Redemption doesn’t erase the past, but it transforms it. Bathsheba would always remember Uriah. She would never forget her grief. But God wove redemption into her story by raising up Solomon, a son through whom His covenant promises continued.

And He can weave redemption into your story, too. The places where you have felt most forsaken may become the very places He fills with His love, His presence, and His purpose.

Journal Prompt:

Where in your life do you long to see God’s redemption? What would it look like to trust Him to bring beauty from what feels broken?

Prayer:

“Lord, thank You that loss is not the end of my story. I believe You are a Redeemer. Take the broken pieces of my past and use them for Your glory. Write a story of love and redemption over my life, just as You did for Bathsheba. Amen."

About this Plan

Rescued: God's Grace for the Hardest Parts of Your Story

Rescued is a 7-day devotional written by Ginia Bishop, author of GRACE TO START OVER: YOU ARE WORTHY OF A NEW BEGINNING, for the woman who finds herself in a dark valley, carrying wounds she never asked for, and pain she can’t seem to shake. Like Bathsheba, maybe you’ve endured betrayal, loss, or moments that turned your world upside down. You’ve buried tears, questioned God, and wondered if He truly sees you. This plan reminds you that He does.
