Rescued: God's Grace for the Hardest Parts of Your Story

DAY 4 OF 7

God Is Fighting for You

“When the time of mourning was past, David sent word and had her brought to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done [with Bathsheba] was evil in the sight of the Lord. And the Lord sent Nathan to David.”
—2 Samuel 11:27–12:1 AMP

Just when you feel unseen, unloved, or abandoned by God, He has a way of showing up on your behalf. That’s exactly what happened in Bathsheba’s story.

David may have believed his actions would go unnoticed, but God saw it all. Scripture makes it clear: “the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the Lord.” And so, God sent the prophet Nathan to confront him.

Through a story, Nathan revealed to David the depth of his sin. Outraged, David condemned the man in the story, only to hear Nathan’s words pierce his heart: “You are the man.”

Here’s the truth, sister: when people sin against us, they are not only sinning against us—they are sinning against God. He takes injustice seriously. He fights for His daughters, even when we don’t see it happening.

Bathsheba may not have been in the room when Nathan spoke to David, but God was moving on her behalf. And He will move on yours too. When others misuse their power, God steps in with His. When others try to silence you, God raises His voice. Be reassured: He sees, He knows, and He is ever present.

Journal Prompt:

When you think back on the ways you’ve been wronged, how does it change your perspective to know that God saw it and fights on your behalf?

Prayer:

“Lord, thank You that nothing escapes Your sight. You see the wrongs that were done to me, and You care deeply. Help me to rest in the truth that You are my defender, and that You will fight for me in ways I cannot see or imagine. Amen."

About this Plan

Rescued: God's Grace for the Hardest Parts of Your Story

Rescued is a 7-day devotional written by Ginia Bishop, author of GRACE TO START OVER: YOU ARE WORTHY OF A NEW BEGINNING, for the woman who finds herself in a dark valley, carrying wounds she never asked for, and pain she can’t seem to shake. Like Bathsheba, maybe you’ve endured betrayal, loss, or moments that turned your world upside down. You’ve buried tears, questioned God, and wondered if He truly sees you. This plan reminds you that He does.
