Rescued: God's Grace for the Hardest Parts of Your StorySample

Bathsheba
One moment can change everything. For Bathsheba, that moment came on what seemed like an ordinary day. She was simply bathing, as was the custom of her time, when the king noticed her.
“One evening David got up from his couch and was walking on the flat roof of the king’s palace, and from there he saw a woman bathing; and she was very beautiful in appearance. David sent word and inquired about the woman. And someone said, ‘Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?’” (2 Samuel 11:2-3 AMP)
King David was told who she was: not just a beautiful woman, but a daughter and a wife. Yet his desire overshadowed what he knew to be true. Using his power and position, he summoned Bathsheba, and she was taken to him. Scripture is clear: this was not Bathsheba chasing after love or pursuing an affair. This was David’s decision, driven by lust, and Bathsheba bore the weight of it.
Have you ever had a moment like that? An encounter you didn’t ask for, one that shifted your life in a direction you never wanted to go? Something that left you shaken, broken, or questioning if God even saw you at all?
I’ve been there. That place is dark and lonely. And while God didn’t rescue me in the way I thought He would, His presence met me in the middle of the pain. That presence, steady, quiet, yet powerful, changed my life in ways I couldn’t see at the time.
Sister, even in the valley, even in the aftermath of what you never expected, you are not alone. God is still mighty to save, and He is closer than you think.
Journal Prompt:
Think of a moment in your life that changed everything. How did it make you feel about God’s presence in your life—distant, absent, or near?
Prayer:
“Lord, there are moments in my life that I did not choose and would never have wanted. Yet I believe You are with me in the valley. Rescue me with Your presence. Help me to trust that You see me, love me, and will redeem my story. Amen."
