Stepping into the Unknown: Answering God’s Call

The Lord spoke to Abram, saying, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”

Just as God called Abram, He calls each of us who have accepted Jesus as our Savior. This calling is not based on merit but on His grace. Being chosen by God is a privilege, yet it requires faith, a willingness to step into the unknown and trust in His promises.

God’s words to Abram were filled with purpose:

• “I will make you into a great nation.”
• “I will bless you.”
• “I will make your name great.”
• “You will be a blessing.”
• “I will bless those who bless you.”
• “Whoever curses you, I will curse.”
• “All people on earth will be blessed through you.”

These blessings were not automatic; they came with a condition. Abram had to leave behind what was familiar: his land, people, and his father’s household. God required him to walk in obedience away from comfort and security. In the same way, when God calls, He often asks for a willingness to let go of what is known and embrace what He has prepared.

Have you heard His call? Are you willing to take that step of faith? Many hesitate, holding on to what feels safe. But every act of obedience draws us closer to God’s perfect will. His blessings extend beyond personal gain; they equip us to bless others, provide divine protection, and surround us with His favor.

Yet, the journey may require sacrifice. Sometimes, it means leaving behind relationships, environments, or possessions that no longer align with His plan. It is a call to move forward, trusting that He leads the way to His purpose.

This has been my experience. When I entered marriage, I had to leave behind my familiar environment, my people, and my church and even move to a city where I did not speak the language. But I chose to trust God, and as I walked in obedience, He poured His blessings upon me. His faithfulness has been evident in every step.

Prayer: Lord, when I focus on the blessings You have prepared, what I leave behind becomes insignificant. I recognise that You have called me, and though I may not fully understand Your purpose yet, I commit my life and my path to You today. Lead me, Lord, to fulfill Your will and establish Your kingdom. Amen.
