Walking in His Purpose: Finding Strength and Blessings in God’s Call

DAY 6 OF 9

Guidance and Faithfulness: The Covenant with Abram

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.”

Abram, a man God chose, deviated from the divine path in his family life. His faithfulness wavered, and God’s plan for Abram was delayed in that moment of weakness. God, in His infinite greatness, lovingly reminded Abram of who He was and how Abram was to live before Him. God’s covenant with Abram was unshaken, but Abram’s detour allowed distractions into his life.

God had called Abram to walk faithfully and blamelessly before Him, yet in a moment of human weakness, Abram accepted his wife, Sarai's, suggestion and strayed from the path. Instead of standing firm in his divine conversation with God, Abram listened to Sarai’s counsel, leading them down a road filled with unnecessary consequences. Sarai herself later blamed Abram for the troubles that followed.

But God, in His grace, gently reminded Abram of His original promise: He would make him the father of many nations. This promise could not be revoked, no matter Abram’s failures. God’s faithfulness remained steadfast, and He graciously encouraged Abram to align his life again with His will.

How often we, too, face moments of weakness and doubt. We, like Abram, may take detours from God’s perfect will, following our desires or the advice of others. Yet, God is always faithful. He does not revoke His promises based on our failings but calls us back to obedience. When tempted to stray, we must remember God's covenant with us.

Just as God reminded Abram to walk blamelessly, He calls us to do the same today. We must stay attuned to God’s voice, obedient to His leading, and discerning in every decision. When we seek God’s grace, we will walk in His faithfulness, ensuring His plans for our lives are fulfilled, even amidst distractions and diversions.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to walk faithfully before You and remain blameless. Help me be attuned to Your voice, obedient to Your leading, and discerning in all I do. Shield me from wrongful advice and help me stay aligned with Your divine will so that Your perfect plan for my life will be fulfilled. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
