Walking in His Purpose: Finding Strength and Blessings in God’s CallSample

Finding Our Place: Navigating God's Plan
“Hagar, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
Hagar found herself in a place that wasn’t part of God’s plan. How did she end up there? What led her off course? God knew exactly where she was, and He fully understood her situation. He has a specific plan for us, but sometimes we make decisions outside His will and veer off the path He has set for us.
Hagar’s story reminds us that we often find ourselves in difficult situations when we step outside God’s will. Today, we must ask ourselves, “Am I where God has placed me?” If not, God is asking us the same questions He asked Hagar: “Where have you come from, and where are you going?”
Hagar’s journey took an unexpected turn because she followed Sarai’s misguided plan. Sarai had suggested that Hagar bear a child to fulfill God’s promise, but that wasn’t God’s way. Hagar consented to this decision because of her vulnerability, leading to hardship. Hagar should have resisted Sarai’s counsel, held firm to her integrity, and trusted God for His timing and plan.
It’s easy to fall into similar traps, especially when other family members, bosses, or authority figures give us seemingly sensible advice. But we must learn to pause, reflect, and seek God’s wisdom in every situation. This is crucial not just for women but also for men. In a world where decisions are often driven by the advice of others or societal pressures, we must remember that true wisdom comes from God alone.
We must rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance when we make decisions about jobs, businesses, relationships, or even everyday life. Without His guidance, we risk making choices contrary to God’s will. So, let us pray, meditate on His Word, and make decisions that align with His will. This will bless us and keep us where God wants us to be.
We must learn from Hagar’s mistake and avoid veering off track. And when we make mistakes, God’s advice is clear: “Go back and submit.” Proverbs 2:1-2 says: “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, then you will understand what is right and just and fair every path.”
So, let us examine our lives, ask ourselves the difficult questions, and listen for God’s guidance. Are we where God has placed us? Are we on the path He’s called us to walk?
Prayer: Lord, as I reflect on these questions, I ask for Your guidance. Please help me to examine where I’ve come from, where I am, and where I am going. If I have taken the wrong direction, show me the way back. Give me the wisdom to make decisions that honor You and align with Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
