Know God 

There’s a famous quote that says, “If you know your enemy and know yourself, you will never be in peril. If you are ignorant of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain to lose every battle”* (paraphrase). There is a lot of wisdom in this, even though it doesn’t include God. For any of us to truly know ourselves, we must know God. He created us. He knows us best. He knows our likes and dislikes, our strengths and our weaknesses, even the number of hairs on our heads. Likewise, to know our enemy, we must know God. Throughout His Word He describes Satan’s origin, tactics, track record, and approach – mainly through fear. This means that, in order to truly overcome any fear that the enemy haunts us with, we must know God. He is the answer for preparing for and winning every battle, every time.

Prayer:

Father, I know the only way to know You more is to spend time in Your Word and in prayer. Just being with You, soaking in Your presence, is a good start for learning more about You, about me, and about the dark forces that daily try to steal my joy and peace. Help me to make more time to spend with You.
