Spiderman is kind of a unique superhero. You have guys like Batman or Iron Man who are both super rich and super intelligent. They can build their own armor and fight extremely well. But then, you have this guy named Spiderman. Spiderman didn’t create his super-powers, he just sort of got them. He wakes up one morning and can shoot webs and climb buildings - all because a spider bit him. Guys like Batman and Iron Man created their powers in the suits they built, but Spiderman received his superpowers. Then, he’s forced to figure out how to use them. We aren’t all that different. God gave us powers that we need to learn how to use well. That requires wisdom. One of those powers is in the tongue God gave us… the power of speech. Our words have an incredible amount of power, so the question is, how are we supposed to use that power? Spiderman has the power to save people and to kill them. So, he needs to use a heck of a lot of wisdom to decide how to use his powers. Perhaps the first thing we ‘ought to do is wake up in the morning, like Spiderman, and start to figure out that we, too, have powers. Some might argue that the power to spit words from our mouths is even more powerful than shooting webs from our hands. How do we use those powers for good?
