Imagine you’re sitting in math class. If that imagination brings you joy then you might be slightly insane. At least for most of us, math can be tough. In math there are these things called formulas… are you still following? Good. Don’t panic - nothing too crazy – and you aren’t getting a grade! The math teacher gives “formulas” to help understand how to graph, draw a line, solve for “x” or whatever math thing is happening at the moment. Perhaps the greatest idea in the history of the world - let’s just have ONE formula that solves every kind of math problem. Amazing idea, right? You heard it here first. Someone needs to invent that.

Back in the day, people still struggled following Jesus and knowing how to “act” like a Christian. They went up to Jesus like we might approach our math teacher and were like, “Alright, Jesus, if you could give us one formula… One formula to solve everything for us… What is it? What do we do?” The rules of that time were challenging. Almost as complicated as a step-by-step algebraic formula. So Jesus gave a very, very simple formula. Simple, but still very challenging. Love God with your everything, and then love others. If you do that, that’s your “One Formula for Any Problem” solution. It’s a tough challenge -  loving God with our all and also loving everyone.
