Nambya

Nambya, also called Nambiya or Nanzwa or Nanzva, is a Bantu language spoken by the Nambya people, in northwestern Zimbabwe, in southern Mashonaland, particularly in the town of Hwange.

History

The Gospel of Mark was the first Scriptures translated into chiNambya. It was translated by Jonathan Shana (Jonathan N. Chipaya), his uncle Paramount Chief S. W. Chipaya, and N. J. Sansole, all Methodists, based on the Shona and Zulu versions with reference to the English Revised Version.

Published as Indebo mbuya yakakwalwa na Marko unganho wokutanga for the British and Foreign Bible Society by A. Brown amp Sons of Hull, England in 1961.
