Forgiven and HealedSample

Forgiveness as Nature, Not Obligation
Jesus Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree. That includes every category of sin, even the sin of unforgiveness. First Peter 2:24 says that He took our sins so that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness, and by His stripes we were healed.
As people living unto righteousness, unforgiveness does not belong in our lives. Healing and strife cannot comfortably coexist. Ephesians 4:32 instructs us to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven us. We forgive because we have been forgiven. We don’t forgive in an attempt to earn something. That would be performative. Forgiveness is the natural outflow of who we are in Christ.
We are no longer living from the old nature. We are in Christ. The Spirit at work within us is the Spirit of Christ, and that Spirit forgives. Forgiveness is not a religious obligation. It is an expression of our identity in Christ.
When we release ourselves from past failures and release others from offences, we are aligning with righteousness. We are walking in who we have become.
Strife and unforgiveness damage homes, churches, and relationships. They are toxic to the soul. Releasing others is not weakness. It is freedom. It protects the heart and keeps the conscience clear. Toxic emotions wear down the body. We prosper in health as our souls prosper (3 John 2).
A person who struggles to release others often has not fully released themselves. When grace is received, it flows outward naturally. Forgiveness and healing remain connected because both flow from the same finished work.

About this Plan

Forgiveness and healing are not separate promises. They flow together from the same finished work of Christ. In this 7 day devotional, we trace the covenant thread from Isaiah to Galatians and see how redemption answers the curse of the law. Through Scripture, this plan establishes that sickness is not divine punishment and that righteousness has already been imputed through Christ. As we receive forgiveness fully, we are freed from guilt, legalism, and self accusation. As we release offence and extend grace, we walk in the liberty secured for us in redemption.
