Single, Secure, & ThrivingSample

SINGLE & SET APART
In college, I would come across sermons and spoken word pieces about singleness, yet I would cringe at the thought of being single. The truth was, much of my worth, validation, and hope were tied to men. If I wasn’t sexy or appealing to a man, I felt useless. It made sense that I couldn’t fathom the idea of singleness. But in all my brokenness, that was exactly what I needed.
Being single wasn’t the curse I thought it was — it became one of the most life-changing seasons of my life. In singleness, I learned the power of being set apart. And being set apart isn’t a punishment; it’s transformational. As Hosea 3:3 says, “You must live alone for many days; do not go out with other men nor be a prostitute, and I will wait for you.”
The scripture reveals the power in “being alone for many days.” Time alone allows us to renew our strength in the Lord, to shed old ways, and to embrace God’s new ways. In this season, we learn necessary lessons, gain healing, receive freedom from past mistakes, and move forward into the “new” that God has prepared for us.
I know your singleness may feel far from content or happy, but shifting your perspective allows God to blossom you into the woman He created you to be.
Being single and set apart gives you the focus to flourish into the best version of yourself. Stop searching for the man of your dreams — start becoming the woman of your dreams. Embrace every part of your singleness, especially the gift of being set apart.
Reflection:
Singleness is not a curse — it’s a season to be set apart, to heal, and to grow in God. Embrace this time to flourish into the woman He created you to be. Stop waiting for the man of your dreams and focus on becoming the woman of your dreams.
