The Mountain of Lust

As I sit at my desk, listening to the rain hit the pavement, I can’t help but think how refreshing rain must feel to dry, parched earth. It reminds me of a time in my life when I, too, felt dry and thirsty — not for water, but for fulfillment — because I was living in sin.

Many of us have mountains we can’t seem to overcome. For me, it was sex. I was a saved Christian with a form of Godliness, yet this one thing I couldn’t let go of. I would promise myself, “No more, Morgan,” only to find myself weeks later seeking safety, security, and love in the arms of a man. Yet God never stopped pursuing my heart, calling me to surrender fully to Him.

At 22, I decided to embrace purity until marriage. Truthfully, I never imagined that over seven years later, I would still be on this journey. But along the way, something incredible happened — something bigger than I could have ever planned: a new me and the birth of my ministry.

Choosing purity didn’t just change my dating life — it transformed me. I went from a broken young woman seeking validation in men to someone who no longer needed approval to feel worthy. I realized that when I released my mountain of sin, doors opened for the potential, dreams, and purpose God had for me. One major decision became the turning point in my walk with God. I shifted from searching for the man of my dreams to becoming the woman of my dreams.

Purity was the key that unlocked my better version and deepened my relationship with God. I was saved and desired Him, but my mountain had clouded my vision of His purpose.

If you’re on this journey — whether for five seconds, five days, five months, or five years — know that birthing takes place when we surrender. Release your mountain to God and watch Him create something extraordinary in your life. Seven years of abstinence changed me and allowed me to focus on purpose, which built a beautiful community of women hungry for God. This sacrifice has been worth it, and now I know I am worthy of so much more — all thanks to Jesus Christ.

Reflection:

Surrendering your mountains to God opens the door to your purpose and potential. When we release what holds us back — sin, fear, or old habits — God can transform our lives, deepen our walk with Him, and help us become the person He created us to be. Trust Him, stay faithful, and watch Him do something extraordinary.
