The Divine Exchange: Trading Your Plans for God’s Purpose

DAY 15 OF 30

Why Do We Fight God?

I sometimes imagine God shaking His head fondly as He watches me argue with Him. Not the loud, rebellious kind of arguing — the polite, well-structured, “respectfully disagreeing with the Almighty” kind.

When He first began redirecting my path, I had my reasons. Solid reasons. I even had Scriptures to back them up — the wrong ones, but still. I’d quote verses about diligence and vision, conveniently skipping the ones about surrender and trust. I wasn’t "fighting" God; I was reasoning with Him.

The more I tried to explain my logic, the quieter He became. I’ve since learned that silence is His way of letting us discover just how limited our wisdom is.

It took many “board meetings” with Heaven before I realised the truth — God doesn’t need my plan; He needs my permission. Fighting Him never ends well. Just ask Jonah. (Although, at least Jonah got a free cruise out of it.)

When I finally stopped resisting, I found peace. Not the “everything-is-sorted” kind, but the deep, quiet assurance that even if I don’t understand His way, I can trust His heart.

Lesson
We fight God because surrender feels like losing control — but in truth, it’s where real control begins. He’s not trying to ruin your plans; He’s trying to redeem them. Stop wrestling with His will and start resting in His wisdom. The sooner you yield, the sooner you’ll heal.
