The Gift of Hiddenness

There’s a strange comfort in being unseen — though at first, I didn’t think so. When the spotlight dimmed after my business closed, I thought I’d fallen off the map. When people stopped calling, and opportunities slowed, I started to wonder if Heaven had misplaced my file.

While scrolling through Scripture (and avoiding my emails), I stumbled on Luke 1:80 — the verse about John the Baptist. “He lived in the wilderness until the day he appeared publicly to Israel.” That line made sense to me at that time. Even John had a “hidden” season — and if God could tuck away the forerunner of Christ, who was I to complain about obscurity?

It turns out, hiddenness isn’t punishment — it’s preparation. It’s where God teaches you to depend on whispers instead of applause. It’s where character grows quietly, far from the noise. Like seeds buried in soil, you can’t see the growth, but something is definitely happening underneath.

And when the right season comes, He unveils you — not for your glory, but for His. Looking back, I realise the hidden years were the holiest. They stripped away the crowd’s approval and made room for His presence to become enough.

Hidden seasons are holy seasons. God hides you not because He’s done with you, but because He’s developing you. Don’t rush the process — greatness grows underground. When He finally reveals you, you’ll be rooted deep enough to stay standing.
