The Divine Exchange: Trading Your Plans for God’s PurposeSample

The Cost of Becoming
"Becoming" sounds glamorous — until you realise it comes with a bill. No one tells you that destiny has a price tag, and it’s usually labelled comfort, certainty, and popularity — all non-refundable.
When God began reshaping me, I thought I was signing up for growth. I didn’t realise growth would involve pruning. People I thought would walk with me quietly drifted away. Opportunities I was sure were “mine” suddenly closed. My own plans, so neatly arranged, were scattered like papers in the wind.
At first, I thought something had gone terribly wrong. But over time, I began to see the pattern — God was stripping away what couldn’t survive in the next version of me. Just like a caterpillar must dissolve into nothing before becoming a butterfly, I had to lose my familiar form to find my true function.
There were nights when I prayed through tears, asking God if the process was really necessary. He didn’t explain — He just kept working. Because sometimes, explanations can’t carry the weight that transformation requires.
Now, when I look back, I see that every loss was an investment. Every closed door was a down payment for what I was becoming.
Lesson
Becoming costs something — and it’s always worth it. God will never take what you need to become; He’ll only remove what would have kept you the same. Don’t mourn the pruning; celebrate the proof that you’re growing. Your next chapter always begins where comfort ends.
