The Art of Waiting Well

I used to think waiting was a passive activity — something you do in a queue or traffic jam, preferably while checking your phone. But God’s kind of waiting? That’s a whole different art form.

When He promised to rebuild my life after the business closed, I expected immediate results. I even drafted a “post-surrender timeline” (I wish I were joking). It included milestones like New Direction by March and Financial Breakthrough by June. Heaven, however, did not sign off on my proposal.

Months went by. Silence. Nothing seemed to move. I started wondering if I’d misunderstood the assignment. while reading Psalm 37, a phrase stood out: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” It struck me that waiting wasn’t a delay; it was discipleship. God wasn’t withholding answers — He was deepening relationship.

During that season, I learned to worship while waiting, to plan without panicking, and to trust without timelines. And slowly, I realised something beautiful — waiting wasn’t about God being late; it was about me learning to move at His pace.

Waiting well means staying faithful when nothing seems to happen. It’s choosing worship over worry and patience over panic. The delay is not denial — it’s divine design. What you learn in the waiting room will prepare you for the doors that will one day open with ease.
