What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent MeditationsSample

Day 3: Hope in God’s Faithfulness
- Verses:
- Lamentations 3:22–23: "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning."
- Psalm 33:4: "For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does."
- 2 Timothy 2:13: "If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself."
- Hebrews 10:23: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."
- Deuteronomy 7:9: "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love."
- Reflection:
God’s faithfulness is the bedrock of our hope. Even in our moments of doubt or failure, His love remains steadfast, renewed every morning. This truth sustained Israel through exile and sustains us through life’s trials. His promises are not contingent on our perfection but on His unchanging character. Advent reminds us that the God who kept His covenant with His people will never falter. This hope empowers us to face uncertainty, knowing our faithful God holds the future.
- Application:
- Reflect on a time when God’s faithfulness carried you through a difficult season.
- Write down one way His steadfast love has been evident in your life.
- Today, and maybe even several other days this week, practice gratitude by daily noting one aspect of God’s faithfulness.
- Share this with a friend or family member to encourage their faith.
- When doubt creeps in, revisit these verses and pray for renewed trust in God’s unwavering promises, letting His faithfulness anchor your hope.
- Prayer:
Faithful God, anchor my hope in Your unchanging nature and steadfast love.In Jesus' name. Amen.
About this Plan

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
