DAY 6 OF 29

Day 6: Hope in God’s Timing

  • Verses:
    • Galatians 4:4–5: "But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son... to redeem those under the law."
    • Habakkuk 2:3: "Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."
    • 2 Peter 3:8–9: "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise... he is patient with you."
    • Psalm 27:14: "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
    • Romans 8:25: "But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."
  • Reflection:

God’s timing is perfect, orchestrating redemption at just the right moment. Advent teaches us to trust His schedule, even when answers seem delayed. The wait for Christ’s first coming was long, yet God fulfilled His promise precisely. This gives us confidence to wait patiently for His work in our lives and His promised return. Hope in God’s timing strengthens our faith, reminding us that His delays are purposeful, rooted in love and wisdom.

  • Application:
    • Reflect on an area of your life where waiting feels hard. How can these verses encourage patience?
    • Today, set aside time to pray for trust in God’s timing.
    • Write down a past moment when God’s timing proved perfect, and let it bolster your faith.
    • Encourage someone else struggling with waiting by sharing a testimony of God’s faithfulness, helping them find hope in His perfect plan.
  • Prayer:

Lord, teach me to wait patiently for Your promises, trusting You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

About this Plan

What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
