Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 91 OF 365

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).

Are you boldly serving the Lord?

In today’s reading, we witness how trusting in God gives you inner strength, as seen in Gideon's story. Initially fearful, Gideon is chosen by God to rescue His people from the Midianites while hiding in a cave threshing wheat (Judges 6:12). With divine assurance provided by the Angel of the Lord, Gideon finds courage.

God strategically reduces Israel's army to 300 men to ensure His glory in their victory. He orchestrates the plan so that only He receives credit for defeating the enemy (Judges 7:16). Gideon trusts in God’s strategy, which involves equipping the soldiers with trumpets, empty pitchers, and torches. God honors Gideon's faithfulness, as noted in Hebrews 11:32–34. Like Gideon, do you trust in God’s power to provide inner strength? I hope so! Today, focus on the incredible power of God and how He can supply your every need.

Employment Point: Trust God to give you inner strength.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
