Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 326 OF 365

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7 NKJV).

Do you have Satan on the run?

In Ezekiel 28, God speaks to the “prince of Tyre,” then shifts to address the “king of Tyre”—a figure symbolizing Satan himself, a being once full of beauty and wisdom who fell from grace. Twice, Ezekiel reminds us that Satan is a created being. This is important: Satan, though crafty and powerful, is limited. His pride led to his fall, and he now seeks to ensnare us in the same traps of pride, lust, and selfish desire.

James warns us to resist these traps, reminding us, “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God” (James 4:4 NKJV)? We’re called to resist Satan, who thrives on drawing our hearts away from God.

Standing firm doesn’t mean you won’t feel the pull; it means you’re willing to fight it. When you resist the devil, he will flee. Cling to God’s strength, turning from prideful desires to walk in humility, and let God’s power shield you from Satan’s schemes.

Employment Point: Resist Satan and this world’s system to please the Lord.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
