Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

My soul keeps Your testimonies, and I love them exceedingly (Psalm 119:167 NKJV).
Do you love God’s Word and follow His commands?
Paul learned that the Corinthian church was ignoring serious sin among its members. Instead of addressing the issue, they were accepting it. Paul says, “You are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you” (1 Corinthians 5:2 NKJV). The man involved was a believer, so Paul focused on removing him to protect the church’s purity. Allowing sin to remain unchallenged harms the church.
In this letter, Paul describes the church as a temple that houses the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16). Moreover, he characterizes the individual believer the same way (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). In the book of 2nd Corinthians, we learn that this man repented of his sin.
Are you living according to God’s Word? I implore you to strive for personal holiness and support your church in maintaining purity and integrity.
Employment Point: Love and obey God’s Word to maintain a holy life.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
