Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 236 OF 365

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1–2 NKJV).

Do you know that according to today’s reading, Christians will judge angels?

Paul gives us this new detail as he addresses issues within the church. The Corinthians were taking their church disputes to secular courts, which embarrassed Paul. He reminds them that as God’s children, they should resolve issues among themselves. After all, they will one day judge the evil angels, so they should be able to handle matters internally (1 Corinthians 6:3). Their actions showed “envy, strife, and divisions” to the outside world.

As a Christian, seek God’s wisdom in resolving conflicts. Strive to handle disputes with the purity, peace, and mercy that come from above. Remember, one day you will judge angels, so use good judgment while you are on earth.

Employment Point: Seek heaven’s wisdom to settle internal conflicts.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
