Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 115 OF 365

Be sure your sin will find you out (Numbers 32:23 NKJV).

Have you considered the principle of sowing and reaping?

In today's reading, we witness the principle of sowing and reaping. David sowed (or planted) sinful actions into the garden of life and harvested the painful consequences. His disobedience leads to turmoil in his family, as seen in 2 Samuel 13, where incest occurs. David could have avoided much heartache if he had not ignored Moses' warning in scripture, which says, "be sure your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23 NKJV).

The painful harvest extends to David's son, Absalom, who rebels against him, sparking an attempt to overthrow the kingdom. David's actions cast a long shadow, prompting us to consider the consequences of our own choices.

Let's carefully weigh our actions, avoiding anything that dishonors God and invites His discipline upon us! What you plant today will be harvested tomorrow!

Employment Point: Avoid sin’s path by considering sowing and reaping.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
