Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10 NKJV).
Are you loyal to God’s leaders?
In today's church, loyal laymen who support and assist leadership are priceless. Drawing lessons from David and his mighty men, we find principles of loyal service. David surrounded himself with courageous and loyal subjects, as seen in 2 Samuel 23. Here are three principles we can learn.
- Firstly, loyal servants are willing to stand alone. Shammah, for instance, defends a field single-handedly, resulting in a great victory. He did this to serve his king – you should also be willing to stand alone!
- Secondly, loyal servants sacrificially serve their leaders. We find that some of David’s men risked their lives for the simple task of bringing their thirsty king a drink of water. How far are you willing to go for your leaders?
- Lastly, loyal servants receive honor. The names of David’s mighty men were recorded in history as a monument to their loyalty!
I pray that in your local church, you remain loyal to your leadership, offering your service, and do whatever you can to help!
Employment Point: Practice the above three points for God to honor you.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
