Hebrews Part 3: Sleepy ChristianitySample

What’s Weighing You Down?
Every runner knows—if you’re carrying extra weight, you’re not going to finish strong. Spiritually, it’s no different. The race ahead is hard enough without dragging around sin, shame, or distractions. Hebrews 12:1 (ESV) says to “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely,” because if you're serious about chasing God’s call, it’s time to lighten the load.
We all carry something—past mistakes, bitterness, fear of failure, the pressure to please. These burdens may not seem heavy at first, but over time, they’ll wear you down and slow your stride. God's not asking you to limp through life. He’s calling you to run with focus and fire. Letting go isn’t weakness—it’s obedience. It’s trusting that what God has ahead is better than anything you're holding onto behind you.
So, what’s slowing you down? Is it a bad habit you’ve been tolerating? A toxic relationship? A lie you’ve believed for too long? Identify it. Name it. And ask God for the strength to cut it loose. Surround yourself with people who push you forward, not hold you back.
You were made to run—not crawl, not coast. So, what’s got you stuck? This week, call it out. Whether it’s fear, comfort, or just plain laziness, don’t let it steal your momentum. God has set your race. Now run like you mean it—free, focused, and full throttle.
Don’t waste another lap wandering or walking in circles. God has marked your path with intention. Now it’s your job to run it—with clarity, conviction, and courage. Push forward with everything you've got, knowing Jesus is both your strength and your finish line.
What’s one thing you need to lay down today so you can follow Jesus with everything you’ve got?
