God says I am ... a child of God.

Your identity is God-given, God-chosen, and God-supported.

We are temples of the Holy Spirit, citizens of heaven, co-heirs with Jesus, ambassadors and conquerors ...equipped to share the Gospel, break chains, and set the captives free in His power (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18).

But here’s what may surprise you. The identity trait that most threatens the enemy isn’t the one that exudes strength or power. It’s the one that reflects dependence. Vulnerability. Trust.

You are a child of God.

This identity shakes the kingdom of darkness because it reflects the fullness of God’s heart. We are loved, adopted, empowered, and cherished simply because it pleases God to do so (Ephesians 1:5).

This kind of love is hard to grasp. Being a child of God can be the most challenging identity to believe and receive—because unconditional love often feels so unfamiliar in this world. To accept this divine adoption requires trust in the heart of the Father (1 John 3:1).

If the enemy can convince you that you’re not truly loved … if he can keep you from trusting God as Abba Father (Romans 8:15) … he succeeds in deterring God’s plan for your life.

But here’s the truth:

• You were born of God (John 1:12–13).
• You are never forgotten (Isaiah 49:15–16).
• You are fully known and fully loved (Psalm 139:1–18).
• Nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38–39).

Does it still feel impossible? Take a deep breath and ask God: “What is keeping me from believing I am loved by You?”

It’s a courageous question to ask, but you are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and one of His jobs is to be your comforter. He will tenderly bring you into His loving embrace, closer and closer to His heart.

Dear Lord,

Gently remove anything that keeps me from fully embracing Your love. I believe that You are my Abba Father, and I open my heart to all You have for me. I forgive those who have spoken against my identity, and I ask Your forgiveness for the times my own words have not been life-giving to myself or others. Teach me Your ways. I’m ready to live fully as Your child.
