A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

DAY 8 OF 42

“If you don’t know, ask. You will be a fool for the moment, but a wise man for the rest of your life.”

-Seneca-

Sometimes the simplest, yet hardest thing we can do is to ask a question. Usually, it is foolish pride that steps in the way and stops us. According to the wisdom of Seneca, when you ask a question you will momentarily look like a fool, but you will still receive the answer. This knowledge still makes it difficult at times to put away your pride and ask for help. Who wants to look like a fool, even for a moment?

God’s process, however, is tremendously different! As James points out in our Bible verse today, God will not only give us wisdom when we ask for it, but He won’t think we’re fools for asking! He will actually bless those who ask Him for help in tremendous ways. He provides for our physical needs, even going so far as to withhold things we ask for if He deems them harmful to us. More importantly, however, He will give us His Holy Spirit! (Luke 11:9-13)

So, for today, let us not be hindered by fear of looking foolish when we need help. Let us ask boldly with the assurance of faith that our Heavenly Father gives to us freely. Let us step to the Father of Lights, the Giver of all that is Good, and receive that which He wants for us. All we have to do is ask, and it is ours.

About this Plan

A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

There is an unbreakable law of history. That which has happened before will happen again, if the same ingredients are present.  Looking at the lessons of history through the lens of God's word will provide us with the best ingredients to give us a God centered life. It is truly a recipe for success!
