A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

DAY 6 OF 42

“If I insist on giving you my truth, and never stop to receive your truth in return, then there can be no truth between us.”

-Thomas Merton-

Sometimes in life we can get so caught up in our own problems, that we lose the capacity to celebrate other people’s happiness. In contrast, there are times when we are so full of joy that we fail to see the hardships that others may be going through. This serves to form a self-centered life-style that cares about nobody else. We become isolated in the midst of the multitudes.

Thomas Merton saw the wisdom in opening up to others and sharing truths about each other’s lives. He was blessed with the knowledge that relationships can only be formed with open honesty and real feelings. He knew that no man is an island.

Our Bible verse today shows us how to form these meaningful relationships. We must empathize with others and be able to share their experiences. When people feel compassion and understanding from others, it spreads like wildfire and produces relational harmony.

So, for today, let us take a moment to notice the feelings of other. Let us offer a shoulder of support to those who may be hurting, and a smile of celebration with those who are joyful. Let us step out of ourselves and contribute to the harmony of God’s Kingdom.

About this Plan

A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

There is an unbreakable law of history. That which has happened before will happen again, if the same ingredients are present.  Looking at the lessons of history through the lens of God's word will provide us with the best ingredients to give us a God centered life. It is truly a recipe for success!
