Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little (Isaiah 28:10).
What is your responsibility concerning the Word of God?
Israel is a spiritual mess. The people are characterized as drunkards (Isaiah 28:1-3). Not only are the people given to wine, so are the priests and the prophets (Isaiah 28:7). Both the prophets and the priests are to systematically instruct the saints layer by layer from God's Word; however, the clergy and laity are alike and in no position to teach or be taught. For this reason, God sends the Assyrians to judge the prophets, priests, and people. Now they will be subject to foreigners instructing them. Isaiah writes, "For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people" (Isaiah 28:11). God's leaders should honor the Lord by teaching His people, and the saints ought to submit to that instruction.
Employment Point: Teach and learn God's Word, lest you lose that sacred privilege.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
