Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 277 OF 365

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).

Do you dress for Christian success?

Paul commands the child of God to "put on the whole armor of God." He cites three things we need to defeat the enemy: power, protection, and prayer. Our strength derives from the Lord. That is why the apostle commences the closing of our epistle with, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). We need God's power accompanied with His protection. The various pieces of the Roman soldier's armor, applied to the Christian life, will keep us spiritually covered (Ephesians 6:13-17). Prayer is the last element of the essential triad. Paul writes, "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:18). Let's honor our commander in chief by applying these elements in our Christian life.

Employment Point: Live victoriously through God's power, protection, and much prayer.
