The Power of a DaySample

The Power of a Day

DAY 1 OF 7

The Power of a Day came to me while I was sick in bed.

My head was pounding. My body ached. My mind was weak. The day before, I lost my biggest client. I was bombarded with thoughts saying, “you’re a failure. Look what you’ve done to your family. You have no shot at making anything. You are a disaster.” That’s all I could hear in my head for two straight days. I could not see a way out. My hope had flickered out. I couldn’t sleep. My sickness was overwhelming me. The devil was pouring everything he could on me. Even though I knew it, I didn’t know what to do.

I’ll never forget the next day. I woke up, and my headache was gone. My body didn’t ache as much. I wasn’t fully recovered, but I felt so much better. I noticed my mind was more potent, and my imagination was perky. I was starting to feel like Anthony Thompson again. I could think again. Creativity was awakened.

The fear melted into faith. The worry turned into wisdom. The doubt switched over to determination. That’s when I said, “how incredible is The Power of a Day?

The Bible says it like this, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” I can’t say all of my problems were solved the next day. I can say hope returned, and with it, the power to dream again.

This is for you if you are feeling or going through something similar.

In 1 Samuel 17, David woke up to a request from his dad. His dad asked him to bring supplies to his brothers while they were on the battlefront. David found someone to look after the sheep for him. He then went to see his brothers, where he would also meet Goliath. What happened next is The Power of a Day.

The day before, David was just a faithful shepherd. The following day, he went into battle against the greatest enemy of Israel. The previous day, he was unknown. On this day, David slew a giant, and crowds shouted his name. The previous day, he was alone in a field with sheep. On this day, David was surrounded by thousands of people and sitting with the King.

Galatians 6:9 says, ‘Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.”

The Power of a Day is about being consistent. It’s about keeping the faith. It’s about staying true to what God says about you. You may be weary. You may be tired. You may be sick. You may be broke. You may have lost your job. No matter what happens, it never takes away from what God can do. If God can turn a shepherd into a giant killer, why can’t He do the same for you?

In these tough times, remind yourself of what God says about you. Search deep into his Word, and proclaim His goodness. His faithfulness. His love for you.

'For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11

I want to leave you with three courage bombs to spark action:

  1. Add daily faith to your faithfulness. You need to gas up your faith every day. Read, listen, and speak faith daily. (Hebrews 11:1)
  2. Speak God’s Word to create your future. Meditate on God’s Word morning, noon and night. (Joshua 1:8)
  3. Find three things you are grateful for each day. Thank God for your blessings morning, noon, and night. (Thessalonians 5:16-18)

If you need a song to elevate your faith, listen to Miracles on Miracles by Elevation Worship.

After reading and reflecting on all of this, let me know what resonated with you the most.

I’m praying and rooting for you.
