Cooking Up Confidence (Week Four) Sample

Day Five - I can Hear from God. 

Yesterday we looked at how Jesus would often go somewhere quiet to hear from and talk to God. Today let's look at how we can pray and ask Jesus to help us hear from God. 

READ:

‘A Voice in the night’ in any Children’s Bible or 1 Samuel 3

Samuel heard the voice one more time. “What was going on here?” Samuel thought to himself. 

Once again he ran to Eli’s bedside.

ASK:

Samuel had learned about the Lord from his grownups and Eli but he had not actually heard God’s voice. 

Maybe you have learned about God from your grownups, but you have not heard the voice of God? 

If we look in 1 Samuel 3:7 (ICB), it tells us "Samuel did not yet know the Lord. The Lord had not spoken directly to him yet."

Maybe you could ask Jesus to help you hear the voice of God? 

Here is a short prayer to help you - 

Jesus, please help me to listen to you today. 

Help my heart and mind to be quiet so I can hear you. 

Jesus, what would you like to say to us today?

REMEMBER:

Open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your teachings. (Psalm 119:18)

SAY:

I believe that the Bible has the greatest news,

That you gave to help us find our way. 

Your word can be shared with anyone, anywhere! 

We trust what your word says. 

You can use my words to share your message

You are with me everywhere.
